I bet if you asked 100 West Richlanders why they live here, very high on everyone’s list would be the safety factor. We all feel that West Richland is a great place to live and raise a family because there’s so little crime.

And here’s the proof: The Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs has published its “Crime in Washington 2007″ report, and our fair city has the lowest crime rate in the state of Washington among similarly sized jurisdictions.

How cool is that!?!

In 2007, West Richland’s total crime rate was 11.3 per 1,000 population — down from 18.0 per 1,000 population in 2006. In 2007, we only had four violent crimes — down from 9 in 2006. Those four crimes were two rapes and two aggravated assaults.
