South Highlands Park Needs a New Tennis Net

We’re now a tennis-playing family. Well, a very light tennis-playing family … but we’re one nonetheless. Our daughter recently took some very basic lessons at Columbia Basin Racquet Club and she wants to keep playing, so we went out and bought a couple rackets and some tennis balls so anyone can join her on the courts.

South Highlands Park has the closest tennis court, but as you can see … the net is kinda droopy.

Making matters worse is that the levers you would use to tighten/raise the net are broken. The droopy net makes it easier for the kids to hit the ball over, but still … it’d be nice to play and learn on a normal court.

I’ve emailed the city to ask about getting the net fixed, and Public Works Director Roscoe Slade replied that the city would follow-up on getting the net repaired or replaced. Fingers crossed it happens soon!
