It looks like the tax levy only has about 54% of the vote right now (8,500 ballots are still to be counted), and the bond measure has about 55%. Both needed a 60% approval to be passed.
As I said in an earlier post about the West Richland EMS vote, this plan to bring emergency medical service into our own community was very inexpensive. The total cost of both would’ve been less than $10/month for homeowners of a $150,000 home.
And yet we rejected it, in favor of the status quo, which means ambulances have to come into West Richland from 10 miles away (or more) at a much greater cost per ambulance call than if we’d had our own EMS.
I don’t get it.
