My 5 Favorite West Richland Sunsets

We’re blessed in West Richland to be able to experience some amazing sunsets. Our location on the west side of the Tri-Cities, along with the open space between us and Benton City, means we have some gorgeous vistas to watch the sun drop down over the hills and mountains. I’ve taken a fair amount of sunset photos here in town, so I thought I’d share my favorite five. Hope you enjoy!

This is the most recent one. I took it on December 9, 2008, from our front yard. We don’t often get winter sunsets, but they’re usually beautiful when they happen.

The one above was taken last summer — August 8, 2008 — up in the vicinity of the Belmont Blvd. construction that was going on. The clouds were crazy, and with the heavy machinery in the foreground, I think it makes for a pretty dramatic photo.

This one dates back to May 18, 2006, and is also taken from our front yard. We live on a corner lot, so there’s no house to the immediate west side of us — makes for easier sunset photography! I like this one so much that it’s the main image on my wife’s Tri-Cities real estate blog.

The one above was taken near the west end of Paradise Way on June 12, 2006. We were spoiled that summer with a string of great sunsets. This photo is often used on the video monitors during Sunday school at the church we attend.

This is the oldest one of the bunch, dating back to December 10, 2005. Another beautiful winter sunset. The colors in this one are really amazing, I think — little wisps of purple, orange, and magenta all mixed together. Sunset photos are usually gorgeous when they’re dramatic; this one is really subtle, but I love it, anyway.
