Look What Just Arrived…

We just got this in the mail today:

census

I called the Census Bureau hotline about two weeks ago to report that our form had never arrived. The recording said I should wait until April 12th, and if it still hadn’t arrived I could call for a replacement. Well, today is April 12 and sure enough … our census form is here.

From what I understand, this is actually a duplicate mailing — there’s a letter inside that says they sent our form earlier and are sending this one since we never replied. But we never got the original form! Some friends on Twitter (in other parts of the country) reported that they also got a second form today.

So, my question is … did anyone/everyone else in West Richland also get their first census form today, or was ours really lost somehow when the first one was sent out weeks ago?

    Matt,

As of April 13th, I still have not seen the census form. This is a concern since may of the federal and state funds West Richland receives is tied to this population count.

Hey Roscoe – call the phone number that’s listed on the census.gov web site. It said something about calling them if the form didn’t arrive by April 12th. They made it sound like a replacement could be sent, or it would somehow be fixed. Good luck – let me know how it goes.

    Matt,

I waited a couple of more days to see if the census form would show up; and it didn’t. Called the number listed on the census.gov website and was able to fill out the form over the phone. Took about 20 minutes because the census worker was required to fully read each question to me.

Interesting! Cool that they’re taking details over the phone, but sad it came to that. Wonder what happened to your form….
