There was a huge crowd on hand today at the grand opening of the new Kadlec Clinic in West Richland. The facility has been open for business for a little while now, but this event was a chance for Kadlec officials, city leaders, and interested community members (like us) to officially welcome the city’s first full medical facility.

Here’s a video that we shot at the event and uploaded to our YouTube account.

That was the ceremony part of the event. Clinic staff also took us on a tour of the two-story building, which is very nice and seems to have been built with the idea in mind that, as West Richland grows, the facility will be able to grow with it. There are four doctors in the building now, but it has enough space to accommodate up to 12 physicians and other health care providers.

(It’s important to note, I think, that this is a primary care facility — not an urgent care location.)

Today’s event was quite nice. The kids got a kick out of riding the city’s first elevator, and we all enjoyed the excellent cakes and treats. There was even a harpist playing music upstairs. We learned that Kadlec owns much of the land surrounding the new building, and there are plans to bring both a “medical mall” and a retail strip mall to the Keene/Bombing Range Rd. area. Very cool.

We posted nine photos to Flickr. You can use that link, or see them below.
