Time: 4:00 pm

vegas 8-ball

Tickets cost $10 and are available from the West Richland Chamber of Commerce, Benton REA, Yoke’s Fresh Market (on Bombing Range Rd.) and Thunder Alley Victory (on Clearwater Ave.).

Hogs & Dogs Traffic Information

As you can imagine, with so many people coming to West Richland, traffic becomes a real concern. If you’re driving along Bombing Range Rd. on June 24th, expect heavy congestion and delays from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm (or later) between Paradise Way and Keene Road. The city suggests you avoid Bombing Range on the 24th unless you really need to use it.

Road Closures

The following streets will be closed on June 24th between 12:00 pm and 10:00 pm:

  • Holly Way, between Bombing Range Rd. and Iris Street. Traffic will be detoured to the intersection of Mt. Adams View Drive and Bombing Range Rd. Two flaggers will be stationed there to direct traffic between 3-9 pm.
  • Northlake Drive at the intersection with Bombing Range Rd. Northlake residents will need to use East Lattin Rd., Fire Mountain Rd., or South 38th Avenue to access their homes.
  • Victoria Court and Sunglow Court will be closed to all traffic except residents who live on these cul-de-sacs.

Motorcycle Rider Instructions

If you’re planning to ride your motorcycle to Hogs and Dogs, your entrance is the parking lot at the north end of the sports complex, rigfht off of Bombing Range Rd.

Free Shuttles

All other Hogs & Dogs attendees are encouraged to use the free shuttles that are provided by Kadlec Clinic. They’re handicap-accessible, and can be picked up at either Wiley Elementary or Enterprise Middle School. The shuttles are free and will be available between 3:30 pm and 10:00 pm. (We used the shuttles last year and will do so again — much easier than finding a parking spot!)

We’ll update this page with more information about Hogs & Dogs as it becomes available!

Hogs & Dogs History

Hogs and Dogs is an annual event in West Richland that began in 2001 and has grown to be the single biggest event in West Richland every year. In recent years, crowds estimated at 10,000 and more have come to West Richland to enjoy Hogs & Dogs. A typical event includes tons and tons of motorcycles on display — old and new — plus good food, live music, a big raffle, and much more. Motorcycle enthusiasts come to West Richland from all over the Pacific Northwest.

Another Hogs and Dogs is in the books, and this one was surely as big a success as any. The McGees are early Hogs & Dogs attendees (as the pictures below will reveal), and it was already pretty darn packed during the 5/6 O’Clock hours when we were there. More crowded than I remember it being last year, so I’m guessing the final numbers will set a new attendance record.

I’ve posted a full set of Hogs and Dogs 2009 photos on Flickr, but I’ll include a few of my favorites below, too.

Okay, so tomorrow is the big day – Hogs and Dogs 2009 in West Richland! It’s always fun, but it’s also somewhat of a coordination nightmare, and if you’re planning to be traveling in or around the Bird Hill neighborhood tomorrow, here’s what you need to know:

Road Closures

These roads will be closed on Thursday from 2:00 – 10:00 pm:

  • Holly Way between Bombing Range Rd. and Iris St.
  • Northlake Dr. at the intersection with Bombing Range Rd.
  • Victoria Ct. and Sunglow Ct.

Getting to Hogs and Dogs

For the first time, there will be FREE shuttles available with pick-ups and drop-offs at both Wiley Elementary School and Enterprise Middle School. These will run continuously from 4:30 to 10:30 pm.

The only public parking available will be in the back parking lot of the sports complex, accessible from Mt. Adams View Drive.

Motorcyle & Classic Car Owners

Motorcyclists can drive right in at the north end of the sports complex parking lot.

Classic car owners will NOT have access via Bombing Range Rd. Instead, use East Lattin Rd. to Eastlake Dr. to Northlake Dr.

That’s all!

Should be a lot of fun – see you tomorrow!

It’s almost here! The biggest event of the year on any West Richland calendar has to be the annual Hogs & Dogs party at the Bombing Range Sports Complex. This year’s event is scheduled for Thursday, June 25, at 4:00 pm. I’ve seen conflicting reports about when it’ll end — the West Richland Chamber says 10:00 pm, but an information sheet in my most recent city utility bill said 11 pm. Either way, it’ll be fun. And any time you can pack as many people into the sports complex in one night as usually live in the entire city, you’re pretty much guaranteed lots of fun stuff.

harley1200Tickets are already being sold for this year’s raffle. The winner will get a Harley Davidson XR1200 (much like the one shown here, though it may be slightly different). Raffle tix are $15 a pop and you can get them at Yoke’s grocery store or the Chamber’s office.

As always, Hogs & Dogs will involve lots of sweet motorcycles on display, not to mention good food, live music, and more. One thing to know, however: There will be no “kid zone” at this year’s Hogs & Dogs. Seems too many parents used that as an opportunity to drop off their kids and go have fun without them. Tsk-tsk.

Here’s a fun fact: Last year, riders from Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, California, and Canada showed up at Hogs & Dogs.

Entrance is free, as always, you pay for food if you’re hungry and that’s about it. See you on the 25th!

As far as I know, the West Richland population is a little more than 10,000 these days. Last night, that many people poured into the Bombing Range Sports Complex for the 8th annual Hogs & Dogs event. Yep — the organizers are estimating a crowd of 10,000 people this year. Holy you-know-what!! (And they say they sold 4,000 hot dogs!)

There were rows and rows of motorcycles — seemed like mostly Harley Davidsons from what I could tell. There were apparently classic cars on display, too, but the McGee family must not have fought through the crowds to that part of the park. We did enjoy hot dogs, chips, and soda pop for dinner … listened to a little music … saw some friends … and caught the very end of a stunt motorcycle performance by Jason Britton.

All in all, West Richland should be proud. This is a fun event and we’re glad we stopped by this year. But if it keeps growing … how many more people can they fit at the Bombing Range Sports Complex? I guess that’s for someone else to figure out.

I took some pictures last night and posted them on Flickr: Hogs and Dogs 2008 – West Richland, WA. Here are a couple of my favorites…enjoy!

I have no clue.) Jason Britton, a trick rider who’s been featured on the Speed Network and the X-Games, will give a performance.

Here are all the details:
