At 8:45 am this morning (Saturday), Benton County Emergency Services notified us that they’ve activated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to coordinate the county’s response to the Yakima River Flooding that’s now underway.

West Richland Road Risks Erosion

West Richland Road Risks Erosion

Van Geisen, one of the main roads into West Richland, is at risk of being washed away this morning. KNDU reported last night that crews are attempting to stop the erosion by placing heavy boulders along the road/river’s edge.

Sign of the times…

After two days of crazy-heavy winds, it looks like the city crews were busy today at South Highlands Park on Bird Hill (Hummingbird & Chukar intersection). Spotted this while taking our dog for a walk today. It’s hard to tell from the photo, but there are about 40-50 bags of leaves piled up there!
